Cookie Decorating

A craft project idea for a birthday that could also be part of their goodie bag would be using iced sugar cookies that are in the shape of the party theme (character shapes for Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh; butterflies for a garden or flower theme; dinosaurs, etc) and let the kids decorate them with Foodoodler markers. Put each child's finished cookies in those cute cellophane bags and just add them to the goodie bag. These were a big hit at my daughter's garden party-themed birthday party. Each child was given 6 cookies and spent a lot of time on coloring them. Michael's carries a few character-shaped cookie cutters and so do most kitchen stores.

Cooking Party

For my daughters ninth birthday we delivered invites written on recipe cards attached to a wooden spoon with ribbon. We asked the girls to bring an apron to do some cooking. At the party we made pretzels, decorated cupcakes, made artistic pizza and pulled taffy. It took some organizing, making the pizza dough and pretzels ahead. The girls really enjoyed it. They talked of going into business together. They each took taffy home. |
